Molecular Sieve Tablets

When both space and moisture are issues, a small compact, high-performance desiccant is needed. Molecular sieve tablets absorb moisture in small containers, such as diagnostic test kits, electronic devices and other applications where space is an issue. Süd-Chemie’s desiccant tablets have long been the choice of diagnostic companies because they can be placed directly within a test kit or component. Tablets can also be incorporated into the caps or bottles of the packaging of sensitive products.

What are they?
Desiccant tablets are compact, concentrated pre-forms of desiccant material, such as molecular sieve. They come in various shapes and sizes and are designed for use in components or products where space is limited but complete moisture protection is essential.

Why use them?
The integrity of sensitive components like diagnostic test kits and electronics or materials such as adhesives is often compromised when they are exposed to moisture. Decreased shelf life and inaccurate or unreliable test results are just a few of the problems that could result from exposure to moist or humid conditions.

Desiccant tablets help eliminate the threat of moisture and ensure that products maintain their effectiveness. Tablets can be placed directly inside the wands or housing of diagnostic kits or other components during the manufacturing process, eliminating the need for additional packaging space. Because the desiccant is integrated into the product, it remains hidden from view.

The hard, uniform shape of desiccant tablets makes them ideal for automated insertion. Unlike similar products, Süd-Chemie’s tablets have beveled edges, ensuring that the tablet centers itself properly within the kit.

Available configurations
Süd-Chemie offers may different desiccant tablet products. While Tri-Sorb® tablets, made of molecular sieve, are the most commonly used, silica gel tablets are also available.

Tablets are available in sizes ranging from 0.067 gram to 1.5 grams.
