The use of ionized air in electronics work environments
will remove the build-up of potentially damaging static
charges. Air ionizers are primarily used to control static
charge on nonconductive materials. See our selection
guide at the bottom to help determine the right model.
3M™ 960
Mini Air Ionizer
The
3M 960 Mini Air Ionizer Is A Small And Versatile Blower
Available For Equipment Or Local Area Ionization. Its
Small Size Makes It Ideal For Use In Those Situations
Where Space Is At A Minimum.
- Possible applications include in or around electronic
product equipment, inside OEM equipment, or on ESD
workstations.
- The Small/Compact design utilizes very little work
bench space.
- The Mini Air Ionizer 960 is designed to generate
a well-balanced flow of ionized air particles, which
helps neutralize stray electrostatic buildup on a surface.
- Charges are dissipated in seconds and the possibility
of a damaging electrostatic discharge (ESD) event is
minimized. The ionizer also maintains a reasonably
balanced flow (± 20V) of ionized air.
- The unit runs off of low-voltage 24 VAC power, which
can be supplied by the 3M Wall Transformer 960X(sold
separately).
- UL/C-UL/CE for global acceptance.

3M™ 963
and 963E Benchtop Air Ionizers,
963 - 120VAC
and 963E - 24VDC
The
3M Benchtop Air Ionizer 963 Series blanket the benchtop
with ionized air to help prevent static from damaging
sensitive electronics.
- Two versions available:
- The
Benchtop Air Ionizer 963 operates using 120VAC
power
- The
Benchtop Air Ionizer 963E uses 24VDC power supplied
by an included universal transformer (power line
cord not included)
- Fast neutralization of static charges on nonconductive
objects. <2 seconds at 1 ft (30 cm) distance using
ANSI/ESD S3.1 test procedure.
- Two fan speeds
- Static dissipative housing prevents static charge
buildup on the surface of the housing, a common problem
with ionizers. ESD-Safe design allows the ionizer to
be part of your overall static-safeguarded electronic
work station.
- UL, C-UL, NOM Certification. CE Marked

3M™ 980
Ionized Air Gun
The
3M Ionized Air Gun 980 is an excellent tool for blowing
particulate contamination off of any surface. It releases
a balanced stream of compressed ionized air that neutralizes
the static charge that can hold particulates to a surface.
- Patented technology ensures balanced ionization for
consistence control of surface charges.
- The air gun does not need adjustment and requires
very little maintenance.
- Compact & Lightweight. The console for the unit
can be mounted anywhere on the workstation for easy
access.
- It connects to any supply of clean, dry air or nitrogen,
and an internal disposable filter collects particles
from the air supply.
- The low-voltage electrical feed from the console
to the and unit is incorporated into
the 7 ft. light, flexible air hose.
- Also Available -- 980E European version, with AC
230V, 50/60HZ

3M™ 991
Overhead Air Ionizer
Using
Steady-State DC Ion Emission, the 3M Overhead Air Ionizer
991 provides consistent static control coverage.
- The overhead mounting system does not compromise
valuable workbench space, is self-balanced, and needs
no calibration.
- It has a bi-color LED visual performance indicator,
green for normal operation and red for failure alarm.
The auto-clean system reduces manual emitter point
cleanings.
- The steady-state DC ion emissions allows fast discharge
with low airflow, providing a more comfortable work
environment for operators.
- Emitter points are placed behind the fan to virtually
eliminate field-induced charge to provide a homogenous
mixture of ionized air.
- Also featured are open-cell foam filters on the fan
intakes, protecting the internal components from environmental
contamination.

PLEASE NOTE: "All
ionization devices will require periodic maintenance
for proper operation. Maintenance intervals for ionizers
vary widely depending on the type of ionization equipment
and use environment. Critical clean room uses will generally
require more frequent attention. It is important to set-up
a routine schedule for ionizer service. Routine service
is typically required to meet quality audit requirements.” (ESD
Handbook TR 20.20 section 5.3.6.7 Maintenance / Cleaning)
