Matrix Trays are used primarily in automated test & assembly processes and conform to JEDEC standards. Integrated circuits and components are picked from trays for testing or assembly into printed circuit boards.

Matrix Trays are stackable within the same device family and maker’s model. Mixing multiple manufacturers’ brands is not recommended; even within the same device family, due to small differences from brand to brand. An empty tray (without components) serves as the cover tray on the top of the stack.
