Corrosion can cause costly damage during manufacturing, storage and transportation. Moisture, humidity, condensation and environmental contaminants can all contribute to rust, oxidation and deterioration. But corrosion protection isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right solution depends on what you’re protecting, the environment it will encounter, and how long it needs protection. Texas Technologies is here to help you make the right choice for protecting your products.

What Are You Protecting?

Different metals, electronics, machinery and precision components require different levels of protection. Texas Technologies offers a variety of Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI®) solutions that help protect metal surfaces from corrosion, including:

The right format depends on the product and how it will be stored or transported.

Does the Surface Need Direct Corrosion Protection?

Not every application can be protected with packaging alone. Texas Technologies also offers BullFrog®, VpCI® and other corrosion-inhibiting products, including liquids, sprays, coatings and rust removers designed for direct treatment and protection of metal surfaces. These solutions can be useful for machinery, equipment, tools, parts and other applications where corrosion protection needs to go directly on the metal or where traditional protective packaging isn’t practical.

Is Moisture or Humidity a Concern?

Because moisture is a major contributor to corrosion, humidity control may need to be part of your protection strategy. Desiccants absorb moisture inside sealed packaging, while humidity indicator cards provide a visual indication of relative humidity levels.

For larger shipments, products such as Container Dri® II help control moisture and condensation inside shipping containers, trailers and rail cars, reducing the risk of “container rain” and moisture-related damage.

Do You Need Barrier Packaging?

For moisture-sensitive products, moisture barrier bags and films can help prevent moisture vapor from entering the package. When paired with the appropriate desiccant, barrier packaging creates a more controlled environment during storage and transportation.

Texas Technologies also carries specialized options, including MIL-PRF-131 materials, for applications with specific performance requirements.

Are You Protecting Against More Than One Threat?

Often, the best solution combines multiple forms of protection.

A metal component might require VpCI protection for corrosion, desiccant for moisture and barrier packaging to help maintain a controlled environment. Electronics may also require protection from electrostatic discharge, making static-shielding or static-dissipative packaging another consideration.

Products such as Desicorr® VpCI® pouches can even combine moisture and corrosion protection within a single solution.

Find the Right Corrosion-Control Solution

Before choosing corrosion protection, ask:

What material are you protecting?
Will it encounter moisture, humidity or condensation?
How long will it be stored or shipped?
Does it also require ESD or moisture-barrier protection?

Texas Technologies offers corrosion-control products, desiccants, humidity indicators and protective packaging that can be used individually or together.

Not sure what your application needs? Contact Texas Technologies to find the right combination of corrosion and moisture protection for your products, storage conditions and shipping environment. Together, we’ll make sure your products are protected from corrosion, moisture, static, or any other threats they might face.
